About (biography)
At age four, Lynn Baber rode her first horse and fell off, getting stepped on in the process. It would have been the end of any future equine relationship for most people, but not for Lynn. It was the beginning of a lifelong love affair that would take her through trials and victories, successes and failures, but through it all, the passion of her heart would always be for horses.
This passion took her down a career path that included more than twenty years as an equine consultant and appraiser, horse trainer, breeder and judge. The road between that first fall from a horse and the beginning of her equine career, however, took a few twists and turns.
On the way, Lynn spent more than 15 years as a businesswoman. Then, in 1988, this energetic but frustrated business owner decided to try her hand at politics, not out of desire for personal advancement, but out of a deep conviction that she could make a difference. She ran for the office of county commissioner in Douglas County, Nebraska. Lynn earned the votes of nearly 60,000 people, yet lost the general election. But, in Lynn's typically resilient way, she saw that closed door as an opening to another opportunity.
Lynn promptly bought a mostly untrained horse, attended a short training clinic and over that winter began her equine career that would last for the next two decades.
Lynn's relationship with the Lord was always an absolute, although she openly shares her many mis-steps and failures in her writing. Amazing Grays-Amazing Grace is a work for the Lord and is a story of His endless grace.
Amazing Grays-Amazing Grace is a story of the journey God takes us on in the round pen of life. A story of hope, success, failure, joy, laughter and tears. It is a story with a message that none of us are lost causes. That we are teachable, trainable, and moldable under the gentle hand of the Master trainer.
It is Lynn's story, and she presents it with candor, transparency, poignancy, honesty and humor, because, in the end, it is a love story.
